AirPods are wireless Bluetooth earbuds created by Apple and were first released in 2016, a second iteration was released in March 2019 which means there are currently two versions of the Airpods; the first generation Airpods (Airpod 1) and the second generation Airpods (Airpod 2). They are Apple’s most popular accessory product, and this is because they are free of wires, and are super convenient to use for listening to audio and making phone calls.
The Airpods are designed with a chipset called the W1 (on Airpod 1) or H1 (on Airpod 2) that allows for easy pairing and rock-solid audio sync, built-in accelerometer to register tap controls, an optical sensor to detect when they’re in your ears and when they’re out, dual beam-forming microphones for talking to Siri and making crystal clear phone calls, and a second accelerometer for speech detection.
They come with a Charging Case, which is used for both charging and storage purposes. The Charging Case is small in size, portable and easily pocketable. There’s the Lightning cables which should be connected to the Lightning port at the bottom to charge the AirPods and the case. The Wireless Charging Case also lets you charge with a Qi wireless charger.
When it comes to the battery life, AirPods deliver an incredible 5 hours of listening time on one charge and 3 hours of listening time with just 15 minutes charge. The charging case also holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.
Now, before using the Airpods, they have to be paired or configured with an Iphone or any Apple device. AirPods are also compatible with any device that supports Bluetooth 4.0 or higher, including Android devices (although the features and functionality are limited).
