How to Transfer Your Google Play Music Library to YouTube Music 2

Reports suggests that YouTube Music will be taking over very soon from Google Play Music as the latter will be shutting down towards the end of the year. Due to this, Google introduced a new feature that lets users make a smooth transition of their music libraries to YouTube Music.

Users will be be able to migrate their playlists, stations, purchased and uploaded songs, and albums. The feature also enables the transfer of your liked and disliked songs, and Google states that it will update your music profile so that you get personalized recommendations in YouTube Music based on your Google Play Music listening history, likes, and dislikes.

Google will convert your Google Play Music subscription to the equivalent tier of YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium (based on the level of benefits with your current subscription). Your monthly billing price and benefits will remain the same unless you are in a location with fluctuating currency.

Your Google Play account would still be accessible after you’ve completed the transfer. But that is just for the time being.

To transfer your data from Google Play Music to YouTube Music, use one of the following options:

  1. Visit https://music.youtube.com/transfer and click Transfer.
  2. Open the YouTube Music app and then tap on your profile picture and then Settings and then Transfer and then Transfer from Google Play Music.

This update will be first roll out to select Android and iOS devices. For more details, view this
